PTSA HAPPENINGS
National Reflections Fine Art Contest
Well we have almost wrapped up a fantastic year for Reflections. We broke all previous records by having almost 70 entries. Of these 17 advanced to the county level, 11 advanced to the state level, and one entry advance to the national level. This is the first year we have had an entry at the National level! Congratulations to Derek Vann on making it to the national level in the musical composition category, we are still waiting on the outcome of the judging.
The 2010-2011 Reflections' theme is: "Together we can...'
If you are not familiar with The Reflections Program, it is a National PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. Each year, the Reflections program challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. Artists can submit their Reflections entries through NHS PTSA. A student may submit an entry in any or all of six arts areas. Only original works of art that reflect the theme are accepted.
The six art areas are:
Literature
Musical Composition
Photography
Visual Arts:
Film Production
Dance Choreography
Recognition: A winner will be chosen in each category for each grade level and for Special Education. Entries will be judged by an expert in each field.
The NHS application form will be posted in the Fall on the PTSA web site with deadlines, details and 2010-2011 rules and regulations. For your interest, learn more about Reflections:
